What are Swim Stars & Tennis Stars?

David Lloyd Clubs offers a wide range of fun activities to keep your kids active, healthy and happy. Among our most popular children’s activities are David Lloyd Clubs Swim and Tennis Stars, coaching programmes that are geared towards teaching kids the basics of each sports in a fun and safe environment.

Swim Stars booking

Question Answer
What is Swim Stars? Our kids swimming programme teaches children from the ages of 3 months – 11 years the fundamentals of swimming in a fun and safe teaching environment. Endorsed by the Amateur Swimming Association, the programme follows a structured and progressive approach to learning. Children are encouraged and rewarded with certificates and badges as they progress and move forwards. Developed by swimming experts and structured around different age groups, it is the most successful swimming programme for children in the UK, which is exactly why we’ve adopted its format in our Swim Stars classes.
What is the style and methodology of coaching? David Lloyd Clubs Swim Stars lessons are based on fun, structured activities that work to teach kids the basics of swimming and water safety. Our classes are run by expert teachers and we make sure groups remain small so that kids receive the individual attention they need.
How long do sessions last? Sessions vary in duration depending on the Stage of the programme.
How do I book my child onto the Swim Stars programme? You can enrol your child onto the programme at any time. Bookings can be made via the App, this includes a short questionnaire that will recommend the most appropriate Stage for your child based on their needs and ability. This ensures they have a fun and safe experience. Alternatively, a Swim Assessment with one of our expert swim coaches can be booked via the App also. This is a 10 minute 1-2-1 that will assess your child’s ability in the swimming pool so that an appropriate Stage can be recommended by the swim coach.

Tennis Stars booking

Question Answer
What is Tennis Stars? The David Lloyd Clubs Tennis Stars programme offers tennis coaching for children aged 3 – 10 years. Endorsed by the Lawn Tennis Association, it provides kids with progressive and structured tennis skills, development, fun, fitness, and social interaction, all in one!
How is the Tennis Stars programme structured? The programme is divided into five age groups: under 5s, 5-8, 8-10, and 10-12. Each group plays with different balls and racquets on different size courts depending on their age – this makes sure they are able to do things like have longer rallies, attack and defend, approach the net, try drop shots and develop a good all-round game.
What is the style and methodology of coaching? Not only are kids taught progressive physical, technical, tactical and sportsmanship skills, but they also: • Compete on a scaled down court that is appropriate to their size, strength and ability. • Develop tactical awareness from an early age while learning good technical skills. • Develop competitive and mental skills to help them progress their tennis. • Progress to full tennis in a system that is appropriate to their developmental needs. • Compete under the same conditions which will allow effective talent ID to take place.
How long do sessions last? Sessions vary in duration depending on the Stage of the programme.
How do I book my child onto the Tennis Stars programme? You can enrol your child onto the programme at any time. Bookings can be made via the App, this includes a short questionnaire that will recommend the most appropriate Stage for your child based on their needs and ability. This ensures they have a fun and safe experience. Alternatively, a Twim Assessment with one of our expert tennis coaches can be booked via the App also. This is a 1-2-1 that will assess your child’s ability on the tennis court so that an appropriate Stage can be recommended by the coach.

Creche Bookings

Question Answer
Can I drop my child off at any time during the hour I have booked? We want to give the warmest welcome and the fondest farewell to you and your child and to do this we need you to drop off and pick up at the times you have booked. We also want to be able to focus on caring for the children booked in the session so need a definitive start and finish time for everyone’s enjoyment. For example, drop off at 9am and pick up at 10am. Our group exercise classes of 45 minutes allow you plenty of time to place your child in our care and participate in the activity of your choice.
What happens if I have paid for the session, but I am unable to attend at the last minute? Because we have team ratios in the creche to allow for specialist care, the spaces are limited. If you book for a session but are unable to attend, we ask you to cancel well ahead of time, this will enable another member to take your space.
Will I get a refund for a cancelled booking? If you cancel with at least 24 hours’ notice you will receive an automatic refund back to your account. If you cancel within 24 hours you will not be able to receive a refund.
I tried to book my one year old into the creche, but I can only get a space for my four year old. Why is this? The staff ratios are automated to ensure that we have more team members to care for younger babies than for older toddlers. You may be able to book a four year old in, but due to staff ratios, we may not to be able to provide the care needed for a younger baby dependent on the other ages of the children in the group for that session.
Why can’t I put my child into the creche for longer than two hours? Our facilities and the level of care provided by our team members is suitable for temporary care sessions of no longer than two hours. After two hours, many children may need additional meals, toileting, sleep provision – all of which we are unable to accommodate due to the nature of the childcare setting.
If I provide food for my child, can you feed them for me? Due to the nature of allergens and food hygiene protocols, we ask that you feed your child before attending the creche.
My child has an allergy, how can I let the team know? When you complete the digital Child Information Form in the app, you can let us know any special requirements your child may have. When your child is booked onto any planned session, the team will be alerted via the register that there is something that they need to be aware of to help provide the level of care expected.
Only my husband can book and pay on the app. Why can’t I book my child onto the crèche ? If your husband is the primary member he needs to grant you permission to make bookings. This is very easily done in the profile section of the app on the primary member.
