After many months of discussion, I am delighted to inform you that the La Finca Club and the ABC Serrano Club have now joined the David Lloyd Clubs family. As General manager I am very excited about this development and the opportunity for new investment into the clubs facilities and service.
David Lloyd Clubs was established in 1982 and over the past 40 years have listened and learnt what matters to members. Through a combination of innovation, investment and a member centric ethos, David Lloyd has become Europe’s largest group of premium racquets, health and wellness clubs with 101 clubs in the UK (including 2 Harbour Clubs) and a further 29 across Europe. There are more than 735,000 members, who regularly say that their experience has never been better. The goal of David Lloyd is to provide a great experience in premium facilities for all members to enjoy throughout their life - Family is at the heart of David Lloyd Clubs.
Some of you may know that David Lloyd already have 5 other clubs in Spain; two in Barcelona, one of which has proudly been owned for 17 years, one in Malaga and Zaragoza and one closer to home in Aravaca. The first club in Barcelona, David Lloyd Turo, has become an integral part of the community in Barcelona and with growing demand has paved the way for David Lloyd Clubs to acquire additional clubs across Spain. Spain is a focus for new David Lloyd clubs so there will be more soon!
Both La Finca and Serrano are prestigious, successful, well respected Clubs within Madrid which is why we fit perfectly with David Lloyd. Now both clubs have become part of the David Lloyd Clubs family we are excited to embark on the next chapter with you. I have tried to address some key questions that you may have, although I expect you may have more so as always, feel free to come into the Club anytime to discuss.
The future … Once David Lloyd get the necessary permissions from the authorities, there will be investment to improve some of the facilities at both clubs. An investment of around €10m will be put in to improve areas including studios, changing rooms, gym spaces and much more. As soon as these plans and associated dates are confirmed, they will be shared with you. David Lloyd has not acquired the ‘Reebok’ brand, so one of the changes that needs to be made quickly is the renaming of the clubs; these will now become ‘David Lloyd Clubs La Finca’ and ‘David Lloyd Clubs Serrano’, which will also come with new website addresses in the near future. In the meantime, you can still access your Club pages via the existing websites.
To give you a feel for who David Lloyd Clubs are and what you can expect, you can find an introduction brochure here. It covers everything you need to know about being a David Lloyd member and the exciting things you can expect to see in the near future. If you would like to find out any more information you can of course visit the David Lloyd Clubs website www.davidlloyd.es.
A little housekeeping… Use of other clubs - In the short term we will continue to operate the clubs individually, however in time we expect to be able to allow members to expand their usage across multiple David Lloyd clubs. More information on this will be shared with you to explain how this will work once processes are in place.
Payments - If you pay monthly, there will be no changes that affect the way you pay. In time there may be a be a change to direct your subscriptions to a different bank account but you will be notified if this is due to happen. If you pay annually or by some other method this will also remain the same for now. Therefore, there is no need for you to take any action, other than to keep enjoying the club as you have done so previously.
Listening to you… Although David Lloyd Clubs has outlined the main areas of focus, member feedback provides an essential part of the process so we would love to hear about the things you love about your wonderful club and where you think improvements can be made by completing this short survey. The survey will automatically open in English but you will be prompted to choose your preferred language in the first page.
I look forward to sharing more information with you over the coming weeks. I am really excited about what the future holds and the investment being poured into the club. For now, please continue to enjoy the club as you have been doing and feel free to ask any questions when you are in the club. I look forward to seeing you soon.
